This is one of the best 9mm handguns out there. I know there are many and the Glock 19 is No. 1 in the US, but the light, thin, and highly visible Glock 17 Gen 4 in full-size 9mm feels good. With the back strap as well as the beavertail, as NATO FMJ is good practice and not junk. High pressure for practical ammunition at affordable prices. I usually use the NATO 239 grain .45 acp Glock 21, but this is my second favorite. I haven't tried the Gen 5 yet, and I'm generally more comfortable with Glocks that are the same size as the Gen 4. A better trigger assembly can help with FTE or erratic ejection.

I bought my G17, Gen4, so I have a single action 9mm for long range use. I had previously fired a .40 cal. The ease of shooting and the feel were excellent. It includes different sized back straps which is definitely a plus. I installed the Ultimate Pyramid Flat Face Trigger Assembly, Extended Slide Release and optical sighting system. However, it shot very well out of the box. Overall, I got this gun for about $900, which I think is well worth the price for my liking. It fits perfectly in my hand, accurate, minimal recoil. Sharp trigger break and quick reset Good balance and reliability The draw from the holster was smooth. But not too big for concealment. Excellent at gun range and used during tack operations. This gun is highly recommended for novice or experienced shooters.
